Textile fibers
Yarn is composed of short fibers (such as cotton, polyester short fibers) or filaments (such as multifilament, monofilament).
Yarn composed of short fibers is spun yarn.
Yarn composed of single filament is monofilament.
Yarn composed of multiple filaments is multifilament.
Fiber fineness
Fiber fineness refers to the degree of fineness of fibers expressed in terms of their diameter or cross-sectional area. Normally, the mass per unit length is used to represent the fineness of fibers.
Tensile strength of fibers
Tensile breaking strength: The unit of force required for a fiber to be directly stretched to break under external force is measured in Newtons (N).
Breaking elongation: The elongation at break of a fiber when stretched is measured in percentage (%).
Thermal deformation of fiber
Hot air shrinkage rate: The fiber was subjected to hot air treatment, and the percentage of the difference in fiber length before and after treatment compared to the fiber length before treatment, and the unit is percentage (%).
Yarn twist
Yarn twist refers to the number of twists per unit length of yarn, and the more twists per unit length, the greater force between fibers.
(For example, our factory's 160S yarn indicates there are 160 spiral turns in the S direction in one meter)
Twist is beneficial for improving yarn strength and uniformity.
Twist direction: The direction in which the yarn rotates during twisting. t.
The fibers are twisted together in a single yarn or a single yarn in a strand, the twist direction is defined as an S-twist (direction), moving from the bottom to the top and from right to left. The direction from the bottom to the top and from left to right is called Z-twist. Different twist directions are used to improve the flatness of the fabric surface.
Number of fiber filaments
Number of filaments: We often use (the first letter of filament) to represent the number of filaments in a synthetic fiber. For example, polyester 1300D/192F means that the long fiber with a thickness of 1300D is composed of 192 filaments. Yarns of the same fineness have more filament numbers, the finer of individual filament.
