Differences Between Polypropylene Staple Yarn and Filament Yarn Filter Cloth

Polypropylene staple yarn and filament yarn represent two distinct categories of yarns. Filament yarns encompass both monofilament and multifilament types,  while staple yarns, or spun yarns, are composed of staple fibers. The primary differences between these two types lie in their filtration performance, fabric surface characteristics, and service life.

Filtration Performance

· Polypropylene Filament Yarn Filter Cloth: The fabric surface is smooth, with good air permeability and wear resistance. The filter cake is easy to peel off and clean. Due to its smooth surface, particles do not easily adhere, making it more suitable for filtration scenarios that require efficient air permeability.

· Polypropylene staple fiber filter cloth: It has short fibers, and the surface of the cloth is covered with fluff. This gives it a strong ability to intercept fine particles. However, due to the fluff on its surface, particles tend to adhere to it. Its peelability and air permeability are slightly inferior to those of long - filament filter cloth. It is more suitable for filtration scenarios that require high - precision particle interception.

Fabric Surface Characteristics

· Polypropylene Filament Yarn Filter Cloth: Made from long fibers woven into yarn, the fabric surface is smooth and lightweight, putting less strain on the equipment.

· Polypropylene Staple Yarn Filter Cloth: The short fibers are twisted together during the spinning process, resulting in a fluff surface with a relatively heavier texture.

Service Life

· Polypropylene Filament Yarn Filter Cloth: Due to its good wear resistance and smooth surface, which is not easily clogged, it generally has a longer service life.

·Polypropylene Staple Yarn Filter Cloth: While it has a strong ability to retain fine particles, the fluff surface is prone to clogging, and the peel ability is poor, which results in a shorter service life.

In conclusion, when choosing polypropylene filter cloth, it is important to select the appropriate filament or filament yarn filter cloth based on specific filtration needs and working conditions.
