The commonly used materials for press filter cloth include polyester, polypropylene, and nylon. When selecting the appropriate material for a press filter, it is essential to consider several factors such as the acid-base properties of the material, temperature, filter slag condition, and filtration precision.
1. Acid-Base Properties of the Filter Medium:
For acidic or weakly alkaline conditions, polyester filter cloth is suitable for general filtration applications, especially for slurry filtration at room temperature with moderate corrosiveness. For strong acidic or alkaline environments, polypropylene filter cloth is favored for its excellent resistance to acids and alkalis at a lower cost. Nylon filter cloth has good resistance to strong alkalis but is less resistant to acids, making it unsuitable for highly acidic filtration conditions.
2. Temperature of the Slurry:
For high-temperature environments, polyester or nylon filter cloth is ideal. For temperatures not exceeding 75°C, polypropylene filter cloth can be selected.
3. Filter Cake Characteristics and Condition:
The separation characteristics of the filter cake directly affect the efficiency of the filter press. If the surface of the filter cake is smooth and non-adhesive, filtrate can pass through quickly via the filter cloth—resulting in enhanced efficiency. Conversely, when dealing with sticky filter cakes, monofilament or satin weave fabrics should be utilized to minimize adhesion issues. The symmetry and firmness of the filter cake particles should also be taken into account when selecting a filter cloth with the appropriate abrasion resistance.
Additionally, when making the selection, factors like filtration precision, air permeability, thickness, and reusability should be considered. Choosing a filter cloth with good reusability can reduce replacement frequency and improve filtration efficiency.
Bolian Filter Materials adhere to strict processes during production, with each step meticulously tested. Following ISO9001 standards ensures that every batch and every filter cloth meets quality inspection standards.
